Description

Original air date:  February 19, 2015.  Readjusting the USPTO 101 Guidance for Life Science Inventions to Alice and public input:  Are we there yet?

In response to public comments on the March 14 Procedure and the Preliminary Examination Instructions issued in the wake of Alice, the USPTO released a revised “2014 Interim Guidance on Patent Subject Matter Eligibility” on December 15, 2014. In this webinar, June Cohan, Legal Advisor, Office of Patent Legal Administration of the USPTO, will explain how the revised procedure works for the Examining Corps and how it conforms to subject matter eligibility precedent. Because the USPTO is now seeking further comments on the Interim Guidance, this webinar presents a unique opportunity to participate live in that discussion, as well as interact with industry (Leslie Fischer-Novartis) and law firm (Anthony Tridico, Finnegan LLP) practitioners on how well the revised procedure aligns with the case law and prosecution practice experiences and needs in the life sciences field. Foley & Lardner LLP’s Courtenay Brinckerhoff will moderate the discussion.
