Description
Original air date:  February 26, 2016.  In this webinar, participants will learn the USPTO’s position on this question, as well as debate the consequences and hopes for patentable subject matter created by the decision and the denial for rehearing en banc. Together with the USPTO, Alice Martin, Ph.D., J.D., of Barnes & Thornburg, and Carla Mouta, Ph.D., J.D., of Finnegan, will explore the insightful opinions offered by several Federal Circuit Judges on the rehearing, agreeing to disagree with the Supreme Court’s position on the patent eligibility of inventions related to the discovery of natural laws, and whether or not the Court’s position mandates Mayo and the current state of the law. Potential antidotes to the “witches brew” created by combined decisions such as Ariosa and Mayo will be proposed for discussion. Presented by Alice Martin, Ph.D., J.D., Barnes & Thornburg; Carla Mouta, Ph.D., J.D., Finnegan Henderson Farabow Garrett & Dunner, LLP; Debora Plehn (moderator), Prismatic Law Group, PLLC.
