IP lawyers work with the Patent and Trademark Office on a daily basis to help their clients obtain issued patents and trademark registrations. This presentation will focus on the back-and-forth between IP lawyers and examiners at the PTO. The presentation will provide brief overview of the various type of interactions between an IP lawyer and an examiner in both patent and trademark matters. The speakers will then provide practical tips in dealing with different types of issues when responding to office actions in patent and trademark matters.  The program is designed for those with some familiarity with the requirements in obtaining a patent and trademark and will focus on practical advice for new IP lawyers in responding to common issues identified in PTO office actions.
