In addition to the men of the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution, get to know the stories behind the “founding mothers” as you explore the lives of such notable women as Betsy Ross, Dolley Madison, Martha Washington and Abigail Adams among lesser-known Elizabeth Powel, Peggy Shippen and Cloris Inglesby.

     
    Visit the Betsy Ross House, Second Bank of the United States (to see a rare portrait of Martha Washington) and homes of Dolley Todd Madison and Eliza Powel, the later credited with convincing George Washington to run for a second term.
